MIS750 (4) - Internet of Things (IOT)

Internet of Things (IoT

Wikipedia: is the network of physical objects or "things" embedded with electronics, software, sensors and connectivity to enable it to achieve greater value and service by exchanging data with the manufacturer, operator and/or other connected devices. Each thing is uniquely identifiable through its embedded computing system but is able to inter operate within the existing Internet infrastructure.

Since the existence of internet, where networks of information easily accessible everywhere and anywhere, eventually enrichment of such technology would impact our life as new physical device or smart device could give such connection. Internet of Things (IoT) is not far fetch anymore with the abundance of smart device such as smartphone and smart watch all around us. Who would though a phone device could be smart enough to be incorporated with tracking system and health tracking system? And as per the video has shown would it be easier for your fridge or smart fridge to tell you what is lacking and need shopping. the idea of data and information would impact on efficiency and method of savings which has been a norm focus for ourselves, business opportunist and governmental  institution is catering people needs and necessities.

But with its advancement in beneficial toward people, Internet is far from perfect in its security penetration from hacker and mishandling of private information. With IoT come to play in this current technology paradigm such security threat has become more crucial. Having someone tapping and control all smart devices in your own home would be creepy. The grand concept of privacy may need to be defined thoroughly and handle with high importance as we eventually accept that IoT would be the way of the future.
